Introduction

In modern houses and apartments, it is increasingly possible to find underfloor heating systems, especially in bathrooms. They provide comfortable warmth, save energy and create coziness in the room. In this article, we will deal with the types of underfloor heating, their advantages and the installation process.

Types of underfloor heating systems

Underfloor heating systems are divided into two main types: water and electric.

Water heated floors work on the basis of the circulation of a coolant (usually water or antifreeze) through pipes laid under the floor. The coolant is heated by a boiler or heat exchanger. Water heated floors can be both autonomous and included in the general heating system.

Electric underfloor heating is based on the use of heating cables, a mat or film, which are placed under the floor covering. Electric heated floors are connected to the network and controlled by a thermostat.

Benefits of underfloor heating in the bathroom

Comfort. The warm floor provides uniform distribution of heat throughout the room, and also excludes cold zones on the floor.

Energy efficiency. Such heating systems consume less energy than traditional radiators.

Hygiene. Underfloor heating helps towels and floors dry quickly after taking a shower or bath, which prevents the development of mold and bacteria.

visual effect. The underfloor heating system is hidden under the cover, which allows you to make the bathroom interior more stylish and neat.

Installation of a warm floor

The process of installing a warm floor includes the following steps:

Subfloor preparation. The surface must be level, clean and dry.

Laying a waterproofing layer. Waterproofing is necessary to protect the system from moisture and leaks.

Installation of thermal insulation. Thermal insulation serves to reduce heat loss and increase the efficiency of the heating system.

Installation of pipes (for water heated floors) or heating elements (for electric heated floors). Laying of pipes or cables must be carried out according to the project and using special fasteners.

Installing a thermostat. The thermostat allows you to control the temperature of the warm floor and maintain a comfortable microclimate in the bathroom.

Filling the screed or laying the coating. After installing the underfloor heating system, it is necessary to make a screed (for water heated floors) or lay a coating (for electric heated floors).

Connecting the system to the mains or heating system and checking the operation.
